Gardaí have ruled out foul play in the death of a young man whose body was found on the roadside near Rathcormac, in north Cork, earlier today.

A post mortem examination on the body of 19-year-old Padraig O'Keeffe showed that he fell and suffered a head injury. However, the results of toxicology tests must be awaited to determine the exact cause of death.

A file will now be prepared for the Coroner's Court.

A house that was cordoned off in Rathcormac village at lunchtime will be forensically examined in the morning.

Mr O'Keeffe, a construction worker, has been described as a lively, intelligent young man.

Today over 30 gardaí searched fields and ditches close to Rathcormac village in their investigation.

Investigating gardaí appealed for anyone who travelled between Rathcormac and Glenville after midnight last night to contact them.

Gardaí also said that up to four people were helping them with their inquiries.
