A 43-year-old man has been killed and two people injured in a shooting in Australia's second biggest city, Melbourne.
The shooting occurred following an argument on the street between the gunman and another woman. Two men intervened and struggled with the man before being shot.
One man died at the scene while a man in his 30s and the 24-year-old woman were rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital where they remain in a serious condition.
A manhunt involving heavily armed police and helicopters has now been launched in an attempt to find the gunman, who escaped immediately after the incident
Police said he had been involved in a fight at a nearby nightclub shortly before the shooting, which they believe stemmed from a domestic incident.
A handgun and a dark jacket were later found at a construction site and police said they were confident that they belonged to the gunman.
