Ireland critical of EU over fisheries

Fisheries - Irish criticism of EU
Fisheries - Irish criticism of EU

Ireland has strongly criticised the European Fisheries Commission for treating Irish fishermen unfairly.

John Browne, Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, told the Fisheries Council meeting in Luxembourg that it was unacceptable that Irish fishermen had been penalised heavily for illegal fishing, while no action was taken against those from other countries.

Because of this, Ireland opposed new EU fishing control regulations.
