The PSNI have launched a murder inquiry in Derry after a man was shot dead early this morning.
The murdered man has been named as Brian McGlynn.
The murder happened at around 3am at Fountain Hill in the Waterside area of Derry City.
It is thought that two men entered the bedroom of the house and shot the 28-year-old man.
A 24-year-old woman was also in the room at the time, but she was not injured.
The killers then made their escape.
The dead man had been employed locally at a new nightclub a few hundred yards from his house. One line of inquiry is whether there was any link between the victim's work and his murder.
The police are investigating reports that a green coloured Vauxhall Cavalier was seen in the Spenser Road area, close to the murder scene.
Fountain Hill is a mainly nationalist area, close to large loyalist estates in the Waterside district.
