Last Irish troops in Liberia due home

The last unit of Irish troops serving in Liberia in west Africa as part of a UN peacekeeping mission is due back home this evening.

The last unit of Irish troops serving in Liberia in west Africa as part of a United Nations peacekeeping mission is due back home this evening.

The remaining 83 soldiers from the 96th Infantry Battalion will be met by their families and friends.

The Irish contingent formally handed over its role to Pakistani troops earlier this month.
