An Irish freelance photographer has been shot and wounded in Afghanistan.
He had been in the country since last month and was embedded with US troops in Kunar province in the northeast of the country.
It is believed that he was shot in the stomach during an exchange of small arms fire and that his injuries are not life-threatening.
He is understood to have been taken to a field hospital in Afghanistan before being airlifted to a US military hospital in Germany.
