Gardaí in Limerick are investigating an assault including a sexual assault on a teenage boy in the city.

The assault is reported to have happened shortly after 10am yesterday morning in the Plassy area of the city, which borders the River Shannon close to the back of the University of Limerick.

Gardaí say the teenager was struck twice before being sexually assaulted.

The attacker is described as being in his 30s, 6'0'' tall, with dark hair, and wearing a black puffa jacket with the works 'USA Bears' on the back.
