The trial has begun in Los Angeles of the veteran music producer, Phil Spector, who is accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson at his home four years ago.
The trial is being televised and is expected to last three months.
Mr Spector, 67, has pleaded not guilty to shooting Ms Clarkson.
The defence maintains her death was a bizarre suicide.
However, prosecutor Alan Jackson told the jury that Mr Spector followed a familiar pattern of behaviour with women.
Prosecutors have portrayed Mr Spector as having a penchant for guns.
He has also been accused of being violent towards women who spurned him.
