A suicide truck bomb has killed 25 people and wounded 44 others in Iraq.
The attack took place in the Albufarraj area, east of Ramadi, and targeted police and civilians.
Earlier, nine US soldiers were killed and a further 20 wounded after a suicide car bomber struck a US military outpost north of Baghdad.
A group linked to al-Qaeda in Iraq claimed responsibility for the bombing, which occurred at a patrol base in the province of Diyala.
Diyala province has emerged as one of the fiercest battlegrounds in Iraq.
The US military has sent reinforcements to the area as part of a strategy to combat car-bomb factories used to prepare attacks on Iraqi civilians.
Separately, the US Congress is preparing to vote this week on an Iraq war spending bill calling for US troops to begin a pullout in October, despite a veto threat by US President George W Bush.
The $124bn bill sets up a showdown with Mr Bush, who has rejected all timetables for US troops deployed in Iraq.
