Dublin - Seven computers to be checked

Seven computers seized in the Westport area of Co Mayo, on suspicion of containing images of child pornography, are being sent to Garda Headquarters in Dublin.

They will be examined by the Computer Crime Unit.

Superintendent Pat Doyle from Westport told RTÉ News it would take some time to establish the kind of images which were on the computers.

He said nobody had been arrested in connection with the seizures which took place in a house last night on foot of a court order.

The seizure of the PCs and laptops is the first to be carried out in west Mayo under the 1998 Child Trafficking and Pornography Act.
