Israeli troops have withdrawn to the outskirts of Nablus, a day after launching a widespread crackdown against suspected militants.
Soldiers left the occupied West Bank town this afternoon, following an earlier redeployment out of the Old City in the morning. They nevertheless remained in position on the outskirts of Nablus.
The Israeli military refused to comment on the withdrawal.
Soldiers earlier stormed a residential building after calling on residents to leave. Although explosions could be heard, there were no immediate reports of casualties or arrests.
Yesterday, around 20 Palestinians were detained, including many relatives of members of armed groups, local security sources said.
The army also hijacked local radio frequencies to broadcast the names of seven wanted militants from the radical Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which is linked to the moderate Fatah party, and warn locals not to help them.
Today's operation is the second since Sunday in the second largest city in the West Bank. Israeli troops initially withdrew from the city late on Monday, only to return at dawn on Wednesday.
