Gray Square - Overnight shooting
Gray Square - Overnight shooting

Two men are still being questioned about last night's shooting incident in Dublin's south inner city in which a man in his 20s was seriously injured.

The victim is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The 22-year-old, who is known to gardaí, was in a house in Gray Square off Meath Street when a man arrived and shot him a number of times with a shotgun.

He was hit in the face, leg, arms and shoulder and was taken to St James's Hospital.

Gardaí believe that the gunman made his escape in a car that was later recovered near the scene; it has been preserved for technical examination.

The two men were arrested when a car was stopped near the scene of the shooting.

Gardaí believe the gunman was over 1.83m (6'0") tall and escaped in a waiting car.

They have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Kevin Street Garda Station.
