At least 16 people have been killed and 40 wounded in a suicide bomb attack at a college in Baghdad.

A truck rigged with explosives was detonated in a car park next to the College of Economic Sciences in the mixed west Baghdad district of Iskan.

One house was destroyed and several others damaged by the blast. 12 members of one family were among the dead.

Meanwhile another car bomb killed four people and wounded another four near a bakery in the al-Amin area in eastern Baghdad.

The violence continues despite a massive security operation by US and Iraqi forces, and one day after a series of bombings in market areas killed at least 79 people and wounded 165.
