Gardaí in Cork have renewed their appeal for information following yesterday's robbery in which an armed man cycled off with €40,000 in cash, trailing pink smoke and dye behind him.
A security device in the box was triggered after it was snatched from a security guard making a delivery to the AIB branch at the Douglas Court shopping centre.
Several motorists saw the man, who was armed with a handgun, cycling on the nearby South Link Road trailing pink smoke from his backpack.
It is understood he later abandoned the bike near the Douglas GAA club and gardaí are asking anyone who may have seen him in the vicinity to contact them.
The man is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, 1.5 m (5'9") in height and was wearing a black baseball hat, black three quarter length leather jacket and blue jeans.
