The Chairman of the Medical Board of Temple Street Hospital in Dublin has said he does not believe there is a need to review the decision to develop a new National Children's Hospital on a site at the Mater Hospital.
Paediatrician Dr Owen Hensey said he would be concerned at any further delay in providing the new hospital.
Earlier, in its first official statement on the controversy, the hospital said that the expert group which decided the issue was rigorous and authoritative.
The hospital said it would not be in the best interest of children to engage in inter-hospital arguments which might delay the building of a badly-needed facility.
These comments come as the Cabinet 'strongly reaffirmed' the decision on the Mater site.
A Government spokesman said ministers discussed the issue at this morning's Cabinet meeting, and that there would be no change.
Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin has withdrawn support for the plan.
