Man arrested for damaging RTÉ building

A man is due before Dublin District Court tomorrow morning following an incident in which a car was driven against the main doors of RTÉ's television studios in Donnybrook last night.

Shortly after 11pm the man, identified by RTÉ Security as Paul Stokes, drove the car onto the RTÉ campus in Donnybrook from the main entrance at Nutley Lane.

The car breached a security barrier and drove on towards the nearby TV Building.

It then drove into the main doors and bounced back a short distance as a result of the collision.

A number of people were standing near the doorway at the time of the incident.  The Tubridy Tonight programme had just finished in a nearby studio. No one was injured.

Three RTÉ security officers detained the driver of the car at the scene.  He was then arrested by gardaí.

He was taken to the nearby Donnybrook Garda station and is due to appear before Dublin District Court tomorrow morning.

Last week Mr Stokes interrupted The Late Late Show by walking onto the set.
