Jimmy Louth - Died nine weeks after robbery

A man who spent nine weeks in a coma after being attacked during a robbery at a bakery in Dublin has died.

A post mortem examination is being carried out today on the body of the 66-year-old delivery man.

Jimmy Louth from Cabra in Dublin was attacked by three raiders in Clarkes bakery in Cabra in the early hours of 3 July last.

He was the delivery man for the bakery for over 20 years, and was on a day off but came in at around 3.30am in the morning to help his colleagues.

Three raiders were waiting in the laneway at the back, they attacked Mr Louth and another man and tied them up.

Mr Louth was hit a number of times with the handle of a brush and although he went back to work after the attack he became unwell a few days later, and fell into a coma which he never came out of.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information.

They say they are anxious to trace a couple who were in a doorway across from the bakery on the night of the attack and a silver car seen in the area.

They also believe someone who knows the raiders may be withholding information and they are appealing to them to come forward.
