Four foreign workers, including an Irish man, have been kidnapped in Nigeria.
Bryan Fogerty, who works for a US oil services company, was abducted by a number of armed men from a bar in the southern city of Port Harcourt.
It is reported that the kidnappers, who wore army uniforms, escaped in a waiting speedboat after engaging in a gun battle with security forces.
The Department of Foreign Affairs says the Irish Embassy in Nigeria is providing assistance to Mr Fogarty's family.
