A 41-year-old computer technician has been remanded in custody awaiting sentencing on four counts of possession of child pornography.
Hundreds of images and videos involving young children engaged in sexual acts were found on computer equipment seized at the man’s home.
The father of three was found guilty of possession of child pornography earlier this month.
Today, Judge Miriam Reynolds said she would be handing down a custodial sentence on Thursday.
She made her comments after viewing pictures and video files found by gardaí on three hard-drives seized at Mr Daly's home at Ellensborough Way, Kiltipper in Co Dublin in July 2004.
Three members of the public expressed concern to gardaí, after which a search was carried out on Mr Daly’s home.
Gardaí seized computer equipment, which was forensically examined by officers from the computer fraud section at Garda Headquarters.
Detective Garda Liam Coogin told the Circuit Criminal Court in Dublin today that the videos involved systematic abuse of children, some as young as two years old.
