Two Dublin men have appeared at Dublin District court after an attempted break in at Garda Headquarters in Harcourt Square in Dublin.
Gardaí say there seems to have been an attempt to break into a building which contains the offices of the new anti-gangs unit at the Harcourt Sqaure HQ.
One garda called for back up when he noticed one man acting suspiciously on the street outside around 9.45pm. In the follow-up search another man was found inside the railings near basement level offices.
Both men were arrested and this morning 32-year-old Graham Byrne from Diggs Street, Dublin 2, was remanded in custody with consent to bail of €800.
He is charged with trespass with intent to commit burglary and will appear in court again tomorrow morning.
This afternoon, 49-year-old Frederick Howe from the South Circular Road area appeared on a trespass charge. He was released on bail until 6 June.
