High Court - €3.1m settlement approved

The High Court has approved a settlement of €3.1m for a 26-year-old woman cyclist who was left blind and brain damaged as a result of a collision with a delivery van on Dublin's Kildare Street.

Julie Troy from New Zealand was on a gap year break in Ireland when the accident occurred in July 2003.

She sued the driver and owners of the van, Crossgar Poultry Ltd from Greenhills Business Park in Dublin.

Ms Troy was in court today supported by her Scottish husband Stephen Gammack.

The couple married last year and now live near Dundee in Scotland.

Mr Gammack said the settlement would help provide his wife the care and rehabilitation that she needs.
