The Morris Tribunal has heard that a Donegal garda has admitted that two women were mistreated both verbally and physically in custody during the investigation into the death of Raphoe cattle dealer Richie Barron.

Garda John Dooley made the admissions in a statement to the corruption inquiry on 14 October last.

In his opening statement, barrister Paul McDermott said that Garda Dooley's statement, if true, marked a significant break from the culture of deceit and silence in the Garda Síochána.
