Journalists at many of Ireland's regional newspapers have voted to go on strike next weekend in a row over pensions.
Notice of industrial action is expected to be served on 27 regional papers today with the three-day stoppage beginning on 19 March.
The dispute centres on plans by the Regional Newspapers Association of Ireland to change the pension scheme for journalists.
The National Union of Journalists is rejecting the changes which would introduce a Defined Contribution Scheme instead of the more favourable Defined Benefit Scheme.
The Regional Newspapers Association will meet this afternoon to consider today's development.
