The US military in Iraq has said British newspaper reports that US and British troops would start leaving the country by the spring of next year were completely false.
The Sunday Telegraph and the Sunday Mirror are reporting that Washington and London had accepted that the presence of foreign troops in Iraq was now an obstacle to securing peace.
However, a US Army spokesman said there was no timetable for withdrawal.
He said a gradual withdrawal could only begin once Iraqi security forces were capable of guaranteeing security.
