A major security operation is underway at Shannon Airport in advance of the expected landing of the US Presidential plane, Airforce One, early tomorrow morning.

The US President, George W Bush, is expected to arrive at the airport between 1am to 4am in the morning on his way to the Middle East.

Up to 300 gardaí and army personnel, plus the army bomb disposal team have been posted at the airport today. 

A spokeswoman from the airport said that the airport would run as normal and that there would be no disruption to passengers.
