Garda technical experts are examining a house in Firhouse, Co Dublin, following the discovery of the bodies of a woman and her two young sons.
Gardaí were called to the house on Kilakee Walk, off the Firhouse Road, shortly after midday.
They found the bodies of the mother and the two boys, believed to be both under ten years of age, in a downstairs back room.
There are indications that all three died violently and gardaí now believe the woman may have taken the lives of her two children before taking her own life.
The bodies have now beeen removed to Tallaght Hospital where full post mortems will be carried out.
