Officials in Turkey say a teenage girl who died in the eastern city of Van yesterday has tested positive for bird flu.
Initial tests on the girl had proved negative, but doctors suspected she had contracted the disease and carried out fresh tests.
It is the country's fourth death from the disease.
The Health Ministry said a total of 20 people have now tested positive for the deadly H5N1 virus strain in Turkey.
11 of the carriers remain under treatment in hospital, while five have been discharged.
