Gardaí are investigating comments by an Islamic fundamentalist who said that Ireland was a legitimate target for a terrorist attack.
At a debate in Trinity College Dublin last night, Anjem Choudary said that Ireland could be targeted because of the Government’s decision to allow US troops to refuel at Shannon Airport.
Mr Choudary, a lawyer, is under police surveillance in Britain.
Gardaí are studying his remarks with a view to possible prosecution for incitement to hatred.
