Police have arrested a man under the Terrorism Act at Britain's Manchester Airport.

An army bomb disposal unit was called to examine a suspicious package that was found on the apron this morning.

The arrested man was reported to have been acting suspiciously near a plane on the ground. It is understood he was seen with a package underneath a plane.

Police say they attempted to arrest him but he struggled with officers and a stun gun had to be used to detain him.

The alert led to parts of the airport’s Terminal Two being evacuated and areas in Terminal One being cordoned off.

However, the airport soon reopened and passengers were being advised to check in as normal.
