International experts were in Belfast today for a conference aimed at addressing the problem of high suicide rates in Northern Ireland.

International experts were in Belfast today for a conference aimed at addressing the problem of high suicide rates in Northern Ireland.

More than 300 people, including relatives of some who took their own lives, were due to attend the one-day gathering.

More than 50 people have taken their lives in the North this year.

The suicide rate in north and west Belfast is more than double the average elsewhere.
