Four people have been arrested in Britain under the Terrorism Act 2000 following a raid on a house in the West Midlands.
Police officers from Greater Manchester carried out a search at an address in Dudley yesterday afternoon. Two men and two women were arrested shortly after midnight.
They are being held on suspicion of providing money or other property suspected of being used for the purpose of terrorism.
Earlier the British Home Secretary, Charles Clarke, said police have yet to establish a direct link between the bombings on 7 July and the failed attacks in London two weeks later.
Mr Clarke said he would be surprised if there was not a direct connection, but none has been established so far.
56 people were killed, including four apparent suicide bombers, in the 7 July attacks on three subway trains and a double-decker bus.
An attempt to repeat the blasts two weeks later failed when the bombs did not detonate.
