Two still questioned over McCartney murder

Police in Northern Ireland investigating the murder of the Belfast man Robert McCartney are continuing to question two men.

Police in Northern Ireland investigating the murder of the Belfast man Robert McCartney are continuing to question two men.

The men, aged 49 and 36, were arrested yesterday morning and are being held at Antrim PSNI station.

The 36-year-old was arrested in Birmingham. The other was arrested in Belfast.

The men can be held for up to 72 hours before being charged or released.

Mr McCartney died after he was attacked outside Magennis's Bar in Belfast city centre on 30 January.

Since the killing, Mr McCartney's family and his fiancée Bridgeen Hagans have maintained IRA members were involved and have campaigned for the killers to be brought to justice.
