Uzbekistan - Unrest continues

Unrest has spread in the central Asian republic of Uzbekistan following a military crackdown on protestors last Friday.

It has been reported that more than 600 people were killed when Uzbek government troops fired on protestors in the eastern city of Andizhan.

Thousands of refugees fled and have been gathering along the border with neighbouring Kyrgyzstan.

Yesterday, local residents seized control of the border town of Korasuv and drove out representatives of the central government.
