Six killed in Iraqi car bombings

At least one civilian has been killed and 14 people wounded in the latest of three car bomb attacks in Iraq today which have claimed six lives.

The suicide bomber targeted the local headquarters of the National Guard in the Iraqi city of Baquba, about 65km north of the capital, Baghdad.

The town's police chief was said to be among those injured in the blast.

Earlier, five policemen were killed and a number wounded when two car bombs went off near Iraq's Interior Ministry in the capital.

The attacks come as politicians continue to negotiate the formation of a new government, following January's elections.

Yesterday, a pair of suicide car bombs targeted Iraqi security forces in Baghdad, killing ten and wounding dozens more.
