Forty-three people were injured in a bomb blast on the outskirts of the Spanish capital, Madrid this morning. None were seriously hurt although 24 people have been admitted to hospital.
The explosion, which is believed to have been caused by a car bomb, happened at a conference centre in a northern suburb of the city.
The Spanish monarch, King Juan Carlos, was due to open an art fair at the centre later today accompanied by the Mexican President, Vicente Fox.
Police said a Basque newspaper received a warning in the name of the separatist group, ETA, 30 minutes before the blast.
