United Nations worker Annetta Flanigan, who was held captive in Afghanistan for almost four weeks, has left Kabul on the first stage of a journey to visit her family in Co Armagh.
Ms Flanigan and her two fellow hostages were released last Tuesday.
A United Nations spokesman said she and another of the former captives, Shqipe Habibi from Kosovo, had left the Afghan capital this morning.
He did not name their immediate destination but said they would be taking a few days' holiday before rejoining their families in Ireland and Kosovo.
The third victim of the kidnapping, Angelito Nayan from the Philippines, left Kabul last Thursday.
