Three killed in Samarra blasts

Three people have been killed and 14 wounded in separate bomb attacks in the Iraqi city of Samarra. One of the blasts was a suicide attack.

The first bomb targeted a passing US-Iraqi patrol. Two people were killed and 13 wounded in the attack.

The second blast a short time later in the west of Samarra was on a police station. The suicide bomber died. There were no other fatalities or injuries.

A third blast came after US forces had used loudspeakers to warn residents to stay indoors. A member of the Iraqi national guards was injured.

A series of car bomb attacks and clashes between US and Iraq troops and insurgents in the city in early November left 36 dead, 26 of them police officers.
