Former Republic of Ireland under-21 goalkeeper Graham Stack has appeared in court in Britain charged with rape.

The 23-year-old, who is on Arsenal's books but currently on loan to Millwall, made a five-minute court appearance at Bromley Magistrates Court in Kent this morning.

He is charged with the rape of a 21-year-old woman at his south London home on 1 September. Mr Stack spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

Another man, Allan Smillie, was with Mr Stack in the dock charged with sexual assault on the same date. The two men were given bail on condition they do not contact prosecution witnesses.

They are due to appear at Croydon Crown Court in Surrey on 14 December.
