One of the two Sudanese rebel groups from the Darfur region has threatened to quit the African Union-sponsored peace talks because of what it claims are ongoing government attacks against villages.

Several aid agencies have told their workers to leave some villages in Darfur amid fears for their safety.

A quarter of the population in Darfur has been displaced by 20 months of war between rebels and government forces.
