Two Gardai have been found not guilty of assaulting a Reclaim the Streets protestor in May 2002.
Today, after one hour and 15 minutes of deliberating, a jury in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court acquitted Garda Thomas Victory and Garda Ronan Judge of assault causing harm.
Both gardaí, who are based at Store Street Garda Station, had denied assaulting Rory McMonagle from Rathgar on 6 May 2002.
Earlier in the trial, Judge Yvonne Murphy discharged the jury in relation to another Garda, Paul Daly from Pearse St Station.
Rory McMonagle from Rathgar in Dublin was one of the young people participating in the Reclaim the Streets rally in May 2002.
He claimed that by the time the protest moved from Burgh Quay to Dame Street and onto College Green, gardaí appeared to have had enough and were aggressively pushing people from the street onto the pavement.
Mr McMonagle said he was hit by about six gardaí with batons until a more senior garda put a stop to it. He was treated in hospital later and received six stitches to a head wound.
The trial, before a jury of four women and eight men, lasted ten days.
