Diverted BA plane gets all-clear after alert

A British Airways plane that was diverted to Amsterdam's airport because of a security alert has been given the all-clear by authorities.

A BA spokesperson said that the Berlin to London flight would complete its journey to the British capital this evening.

Earlier today, a company spokesman in London said that BA had received a threat to the aircraft.

The plane was then escorted to Amsterdam by two Dutch F-16 fighter jets.

All 118 passengers disembarked after the plane landed and police carried out a security operation before the all-clear was given.

In the last few days, two Athens to New York flights were diverted to airports in Shannon and Stansted after two separate bomb warnings.

Both eventually continued their flights to the US after searches revealed nothing suspicious.
