Renewed violence in the troubled western Darfur region of Sudan has prompted an upsurge in refugees moving into eastern Chad.
So far, the numbers are low, but the United Nations is concerned that they could rise if the fighting intensifies.
Refugees have spoken of air raids by Sudanese government aircraft followed by attacks by Janjaweed militias.
The government in Khartoum denies any involvement in driving people from their homes and insists that it is making every effort to disarm the Janjaweed.
