At least 15 people were killed in Iraq when a series of car bombs exploded outside six Christian Churches.

The blasts appear to have been a co-ordinated attack timed to coincide with evening services.

Four explosions occurred near Churches in the capital of Baghdad and two in the northern city of Mosul.

The Vatican has condemned the bombs blasts as ‘terrible and worrying’ and said they appeared to be an attempt to further heighten tensions in the country.

This morning, at least four people were killed and up to 34 were wounded when a suicide car bomb exploded outside a police station in Mosul.

The blast destroyed parts of the police station, houses, police cars and a dozen civilian vehicles. The dead were police and the wounded were a mix of police and civilians.

Meanwhile, at least ten Iraqis were killed and 36 injured in overnight clashes between US troops and Iraqi insurgents in the volatile city of Fallujah.
