The owner of a Galway pub that had been allowing smoking in defiance of the ban has told the Attorney General he will comply with the legislation.
Ronan Lawless said that Fibber Magee's bar on Eyre Square in Galway would re-introduce a ban on smoking immediately.
The Western Health Board had earlier warned Mr Lawless that it would seek a High Court injunction if he did not give an undertaking by 4pm today to obey the law.
The pub had been allowing customers to smoke in one of its two bars for the past three nights.
