Two Government ministers have been criticised for not observing the Code of Conduct for Office Holders, by using official resources for electoral purposes.
Minister for Education, Noel Dempsey, has already apologised to the Dáil and said Fianna Fáil would repay the cost of preparing briefing folders for party candidates in the Local Elections.
Today, the Standards in Public Office Commission released its finding in his case, and that of Junior Minister Frank Fahey, who sent invitations to a party fundraiser on Government headed notepaper.
The commission said the evidence does not warrant an investigation in either case, but that neither minister appropriately observed the code of conduct, drawn up by the Government in July 2003.
