The governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to set up a new telephone hotline to alert each other of potential nuclear risks.

The neighbours, which have nuclear weapons, made the announcement after two days of talks in Delhi. They said the aim of the hotline was to prevent misunderstandings.

They also agree to continue a moratorium on nuclear weapons testing in place since 1998.
