Residents of Slane, Co Meath, say they intend to take out a High Court injunction to prevent pop star Madonna playing her first ever Irish concert there in August.
Local people say that if the concert goes ahead on a Sunday it could lead to public disorder over the weekend.
Lord Henry Mountcharles has confirmed that if he is granted a licence for the event it will go ahead on 29 August.
The last time a concert was held in Slane on a Sunday was in 1984 for the appearance of Bob Dylan.
A number of drunken fans caused mayhem in the town after the event and there were several arrests.
A group of residents say they have a legally binding document signed by Lord Mountcharles after the 1984 concert, in which he gives a commitment not to hold a concert at Slane on a Sunday.
