Iran inspections may end this year: IAEA

The UN nuclear watchdog says it hopes to end its investigations of Iran's nuclear programme by the end of this year if no evidence is found that Tehran worked on the development of nuclear weapons.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei, said that allowing UN inspectors to return to Iran quickly would help to dispel any suspicions that Tehran had anything to hide.

Iran imposed an indefinite ban on UN inspections on Saturday, in response to a resolution by the IAEA which accused Iran of keeping some of its nuclear activities secret.
