Wright fined ¤900 for drink driving

The Fianna Fáil deputy for Dublin North, GV Wright, has been fined ¤900 and disqualified from driving for two years at Dublin District Court.

Deputy Wright, who was charged as Thomas Wright of the Moorings, Malahide, pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving on 18 September last in the North Strand Road in Dublin.

The court was told Deputy Wright, who is a married man with three children, had no previous convictions.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Deputy Wright said he regretted the incident and hoped the extensive coverage given to the case would encourage others to change their habits over the Christmas period.
