More bin tax protests planned tomorrow

Protesters blocked all seven depots in the capital's four local authority areas, preventing bin lorries from leaving to collect rubbish.

Gardaí are investigating an incident at one of Dublin City Council's depots in which a protester was carried down a road by a bin truck, before falling off. He was slightly injured.

Green party leader Trevor Sargent said in the Dáil this evening that the situation was 'turning nasty', and called on the Government to intervene.

Meanwhile, campaigners say they will place pickets on depots around the city again tomorrow with the aim of shutting down bin services for the second day in a row.
